STORE ORDERS FAQ

These are frequently asked questions about orders placed in the Retro Repair Guy online store. If you are looking for the regular FAQ click here.

DO YOU SHIP EVERYWHERE IN THE WORLD?

No. Currently I only ship to the US, UK and Canada. I am working on offering shipping to other countries.

WHICH EMAIL ADDRESS DO I USE FOR ORDER INQUIRIES?

You can use the Contact Form or send an email to [email protected]. Please note that this email is for orders only and that all other inquiries will be ignored.

HOW SOON DO YOU SHIP ORDERS?

It it’s an item that is packaged and ready to go I will usually ship the next day after you place your order. If it’s an item that I have restored, I will re-test it and package it properly and gather the manuals, remotes, etc. Because of this it may take up to 72 hours before shipping out the item.

WHERE IS MY ORDER?

All orders sent out have a tracking number. You should receive an automated email from my web store with your tracking number. Please remember to check the SPAM folder in your email just in case. If you still don’t receive it you can email [email protected] and I can look up the tracking number.

Orders ship from Canada. It can take 7 to 10 days for delivery to USA.

Overseas orders can take anywhere from 1-3 weeks if the order is held up in customs. There is absolutely nothing I can do about this so please don’t ask. If you want to find out more information I suggest you track the package and subscribe to the carrier’s updates via email or text message. I typically use UPS for large shipments and Canada Post for small ones.

IMPORT DUTIES

If you are ordering from outside of Canada, your country could charge import duty and this is beyond my control. I cannot mark items as “gift” so please do not ask, however I do clearly indicate that these are used items and the price paid for the item (just like ordering on eBay) so if you’re not sure or worried, please check with either US Customs or UK Border Force for more information as these are currently the only other countries I ship to.

MY ORDER WAS RETURNED TO SENDER

This can happen especially when shipping overseas. The reason is that the package arrives at the local post office, but there are import duties to be paid and the recipient is never informed that the package is waiting, so after a while it gets returned. If this happens you will receive an email explaining that the package was returned.  You will then have two options:

  • You can receive a refund of the entire order, minus the shipping fees.
  • I can ship the order out again to you, but you will have to pay for the shipping again. I will send an invoice via PayPal and the item will ship out again once the payment has been received.

NOTE: I subsidize part of the shipping on every order to help lower the cost. So, when purchasing a low value item at $20 for example, I often lose money shipping that item.  Because of this, I cannot subsidize the shipping on any item a second time around.

MY ITEM IS DEFECTIVE / MY ORDER IS WRONG

When purchasing a restoration I always test them thoroughly after they’ve been repaired. However, please note that I cannot offer any warranty or accept returns any of these items as they are anywhere from twenty to fifty years old, and while I have done my best to fix and restore them, there is no guarantee that something else won’t fail in the future.

Merchandise like T-Shirts and mugs are purchased through either Spring or Spreadshop so for any problems with your order or shipping has to be addressed to them.

WHAT COMES WITH THE RESTORATIONS?

Everything included with each restoration is clearly indicated in the description of the items so please read the descriptions carefully. Some have remotes and some don’t, some have power supplies and others don’t. Also, whenever I have the user and/or service manuals available in PDF I will email them to you or make them available for download via my website. If I only have a paper copy, you will receive it with the item.

All restored items will include a signed certificate of authenticity with the serial number of the item and signed by me, stating that it was restored by Retro Repair Guy.

WHAT FORM OF PAYMENT IS AVAILABLE?

You can pay directly on my website with most major credit cards without worry as the transaction goes through Square or you can pay with your PayPal account or without an account with most credit cards through PayPal.
